It was doing this when I upgraded to 2.0 also. My server is getting kinda sluggish, so I think it's just timeing out or something. I ended up going into the SQL and switching all the comments to "approved" and that got them to show up. Despite the problems you bring up with the pingbacks and trackbacks (and thanks for explaining the diference) I have to say this is a far better system then Movable Type. This is a pingback. A trackback is similar but different and more deliberate. A trackback must be purposely attached to your blog and it seems to summarize your post better than a pingback.
